Back in September, the Seattle Symphony kicked off an unplanned cycle of Tchaikovsky’s late symphonies with a noble performance of the composer’s Fourth Symphony. The Fourth Symphony marks a clear shift in Tchaikovsky’s symphonic compositions. The first three symphonies: ‘Winter Dreams;” “Little Russian;” and “Polish” are extroverted and bursting with optimism.
